
Join us at the 9th Alexandria Retina Meeting 2025 for a comprehensive course dedicated to
Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening and staging. This course, under the Alexandria
Vitreoretinal Society (AVRS), aims to provide up-to-date, practical, and evidence-based guidance for
early detection and appropriate intervention in ROP.

Course Objectives
– Understand the updated classification and staging of ROP including biomarkers and early predictors.
– Master the clinical steps for examination and documentation of ROP in neonates.
– Review indications and techniques for anti-VEGF injections and laser photocoagulation.
– Learn tailored strategies for managing advanced stages (Stage 4 and 5).
– Recognize when conservative monitoring is preferred over intervention.
Target Audience
This course is designed for pediatric ophthalmologists, retina specialists, neonatologists, and fellows
in training who are involved in neonatal eye care and screening programs.
What to Expect After the Course
By the end of this course, participants will be able to confidently perform ROP screening, decide on
timing of treatment, apply evidence-based staging protocols, and manage both early and advanced
ROP presentations. Attendees will also gain clarity on global trends and when not to intervene
surgically.
