The “Vitrectomy from A to Z” course is part of the 9th Alexandria Retina Meeting 2025, organized by
the Alexandria Vitreoretinal Society (AVRS).
This course provides a comprehensive and detailed journey through the principles, techniques, and
advanced strategies in pars plana vitrectomy,
covering both fundamental and complex scenarios.

Date: 10 September 2025
Location: Alexandria, Egypt

The course includes a practical Wetlab for 10 trainees out of the total 30 attendants, designed to
give hands-on experience in vitrectomy techniques.

1. Provide a full spectrum understanding of vitrectomy from basic to advanced surgical approaches.
2. Enhance surgeons’ skills in dealing with complex retinal detachments, PVR, and pediatric cases.
3. Introduce cost-effective surgical instruments and innovative techniques.
4. Improve decision-making in challenging intraoperative scenarios.
