Join us at the 9th Alexandria Retina Meeting 2025 for an intensive hands-on and theoretical course on scleral buckling techniques, organized by the Alexandria Vitreoretinal Society (AVRS). Date: 10 September 2025 Location: Alexandria Retina Meeting Venue Moderators: - Prof. Dr. Ahmed Magdy Bedda - Prof. Dr. Mohammed Lolah Course Objectives - Understand the anatomical and clinical indications for scleral buckle procedures. - Gain practical insight into modern localization techniques and buckle selection. - Review adjunctive procedures such as cryotherapy, subretinal fluid drainage, and chandelier-assisted techniques. - Identify and manage complications of scleral buckling surgery. - Explore novel approaches including suprachoroidal buckle techniques. Target Audience This course is designed for ophthalmology residents, retina fellows, and early-career retina specialists who aim to consolidate their foundational surgical skills in scleral buckling. What to Expect After the Course Upon completing the course, attendees will be able to confidently assess retinal detachment cases appropriate for scleral buckle and execute the procedure using contemporary tools and techniques. The course will reinforce their surgical decision-making and expand their readiness for primary RD surgeries.
